Getting ready for the holidays........

Lets talk about the holidays……
I know that it seems like we just put away our swim suits, and school just started again, but the reality that the holidays will soon be here is very real.
For those of us with little children,  or those expecting…..  the rush hits us hard.  It takes so many hours of the day keeping those kids busy, fed, clean and out of trouble.  If you are expecting, you are tired anyway and this is just another thing you just don’t feel like you can handle!
Well, start getting ready this week.  If you plan ahead, and start to make your gift list and start buying now, you will be on top of it all. Start by purchasing your smaller gifts this week-if you can, wrap and label them also.
Write your list for the bigger gifts and search the internet for price.  Make sure you do all your research before you leave your home.  Also any gifts that you will purchase online, do that now.  If you order online items earlier, they will arrive and not get stuck in the heavy mail time period.
.Plan your menu now for Thanksgiving and Christmas or Chanukah dinners.  Purchase your can goods for all your holiday meals  at the same time. If you are having Turkey for all your planned big meals, then try to purchase them at the same time (hopefully you have freezer room).  This way, all you really will need will be the fresh produce, drinks, and appetizers.
Make all your reservations if you are going out for any celebration early.
Plan any parties you will have at your home early.  Do your shopping the same method as for your big dinners.
Treat yourself to someone else doing your cleaning, that is like a little present to yourself!
By doing everything early and not rushing around, you will have less stress, more quality time, and feel better.
Remember that stress causes toxins to  build up in your blood. And you will then be more likely to be sick, depressed and not your self!
Remember that The Houston Baby Planner is there for all your Maternity needs.  Sherri can help you with issues of Infertility, GREEN education, planning your baby shower , or even Designing the little ones Nursery~!

A Safety Note from Sherri

According to Government Statistics, accidental drowning is the number one cause of death for children under the age of five in the USA. Pool Fencing is the safest choice to prevent this kind of tragedy.

Play it safe, install a pool fence. Have questions? Feel free to give Pool Guard Texas a call. We would love to answer any and all of your pool safety questions.

Green with envy

This  is not the green you feel when you are first pregnant, but infact the envy of your friends when you go GREEN and you and your baby and family are healthy and just glowing.

The Houston Baby Planner is now offering three different Educational seminars on GREEN, each  also showing you the changes you need to make, but the challenges you might have if you don't.  This is not to scare anyone, but instead to educate and understand what is going on around you,  and offer you the opportunity to make changes...

Class 1 is Preconception Green and it discusses what you need to know before you get pregnant.  It  also deals with  Infertilkity and how to make chnges in your life that can make a difference.

Class 2 is Greening with Pregnancy, and offering suggestions to help you stay healthy and what to avoid to maintain your status and improve your babies health.

Class 3 is FourthTrimester Greenup and how to be GREEN as a new Mommy.  We also discuss the facts of creating a Mommy Plan, so you can stay healthy both in mind, body and spirit.

Another option being offered is Designing a GREEN nursery, and not referring to the wall color!  As a designer and baby planner, it just reflects in the research that I feel you may want to investigate to give your new little bay a chance to live a healthier life!  And again, I am non judgemental and if this is not your ideal, than that is fine.  My babies didn't have GREEN surrounding them and they are just fine..or are they!

None of the classes will enforce that you must tranfer to a GREENER life, but Educate you in the facts and let you make your own Educated choices.

These are fun and factural and The Houston Baby Planner is non judgemental and realizes that not everyone has the same  goals and thought process.

As always, remember           BETTER PLANNING MAKES BETTER BABIES!

Sunscreen for your kiddos

Here are a few tips on using sunscreen.....................
The old theory is a shot full for the whole body...if you are in a bathing suit, that may not be enough as per Dermatologist Cheryl Karcher.

SPF is not everything...the number gauges how well a sunscreen fends off UVB light, but not UVB rays. Scan the label for BROAD SPECTRUM and more than one of the following ingredient...Avobenzone, Mexoryl, Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide.

Sunscreen weakens when exposed to heat and light.  Store it in a cool place, not your trunk of the car.  Get formulas with stabilizing ingredients such as Helioplex or Dermaplex

You may need sunscreen indoors...if your windows are not treated, your home or office won't be protected from damaging rays. as per Dermotologist Francesca Fusco.

The average white T shirt provides an SPF of 10 or you thinking!

Remember with it being summer, our children are around a lot of water.  Make sure if you  have a pool that you have a pool fence, also make sure that you have an alarm on your door, and a flap lock up high on the door.  Even if you live in an apartment, place a flap lock on the entry/exit door to prevent little ones from escaping and getting where they should not be. Please protect the little guys that don't know any better!

Talk to you soon,
